The Hong Kong Jockey Club runs an annual team competition called the HKJC's Children's Challenge Cup for children aged 8 to 12 years or under on September 21st 2018. This is the sixth year that the competition has been running.

The idea is for more children to gain confidence and valuable competition experience competing on borrowed ponies away from their regular riding venue.

A few requirements before you apply:

1. Riders must be 8 years or above and 12 years or below on 21 September 2018.
2. Riders may not compete if they have competed at any HKEF / BREC / TM showjumping events of 70cm or above
3. Riders may ride for a maximum of 2 teams, so if you are signed up through your regular riding school, you may still compete for the HKPC
4. Ideally you should be able to commit to all dates. If you can't, please let us know in your registration which dates you cannot make.

Please note:
You may find yourself jumping different heights at different events and we would like you to note that we do not entertain riders who ONLY want to jump 50cm. You need to have good team skills and be open to jump whatever is offered on the day. Heights will not be disclosed until the day of the competition. You may however let us know a preference in your registration.

Dates, Time and Locations:

In general, all competitions are set on Fridays and the starting time is 6.00pm. The first rider goes in at 6.30pm. Usually the competition runs into the evening until about 9.00pm.

21 September - Lei Yue Mun (LYMPRS)
19 October - Lo Wu Saddle Club (LWSC)
9 November - Clear Water Bay Equestrian Centre (CEEC)
14 December - Tuen Mun (TMPRS)
18 January - Beas River (BREC) FINAL

Format / Rules:

Each riding school will send a team of 3 riders to each competition. If only 2 team members show up, one rider may go twice at the discretion of the respective coach. This is NOT allowed in the Final at BREC.
There will be three jumping heights, 20cm, 30cm and 50cm in all competitions except the final at BREC, where fences will go up to 40cm, 50cm and 60cm.
Jumping will be judged on equitation and each round is 8 fences or less.
Points will be deducted for fallen poles, refusals, course deviation and fallen riders.

Cost:
Each competition will cost HKD 350,- per rider.
The final at BREC costs HKD 400,- per rider as it includes a theory section for all team members.

If you are interested and fulfill the above requirements, please register for this exciting opportunity!

Registration closes on Wednesday, 31 August 2018
